Prometheus Denies Fire

GREECE — Apollodorus was a lying, jealous ass bitch. “Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man.” No the fuck I didn’t.

Somehow, this hurtful and utterly defamatory narrative has been allowed to pervade and spread for centuries upon centuries.

Somehow slavery, the Civil Rights Movement, and countless movements and events have exposed and critiqued this exact brand of absurd, prejudiced lie and yet, I have not been absolved.

How would I steal fire from a god? Do you know what a god is? Have you ever even seen a god? Of course not. I haven’t either. That’s how powerful they are.

And then, to “give” it to man. How do you give fire to man? Read between the lines. Doesn’t “giving fire” to man sound a lot like “setting fire” to man? Listen to their sneaky, veiled language. They call it “poetry”. What they’re really trying to call me is a murderer.

“He was chained to a rock, and tortured for eternity.” Go ahead and call me a superpredator, why don’t you? I never did time, bitch. And all my DUI’s are expunged.

And then this tale that while I was chained to the rock, Zeus summoned an eagle upon me. Ain’t that some racist-ass shit? This sounds like a racist rumor someone would spread during Jim Crow. “Oh, you heard about that Black man who got locked up? And the guards summoned a fried chicken upon him?”
